About the park:

Haw River State Park is located approximately 10 miles north of Greensboro, NC. Housed within this natural setting is The Summit Environmental Education and Conference Center; North Carolina State Park’s first residential environmental education center. The park is situated on 1,424 acres of piedmont forest, fields, wetlands and uplands and protects the headwaters area of the Haw River.  Food, lodging and our training location all in one park!  And a bonus: for our CSAR training, this location also includes two full time chefs, so cereal for breakfast is not mandatory!

Cabins:

Cabins have four bunkbeds, and sleeping eight per cabin.  Cabins are included in your registration (no extra charge.)

With K9s and crates however, we recommend that you plan on max 6 people per cabin.

There are also two large enclosed rooms between cabins. Great place to meet and debrief your trainings!

On the other entry way of the cabin between the rooms there is even more space for gear to be stored!

Motels on site:

Besides the cabin, we also have full use of the on-site Haw River State Park motels (or as the staff likes to call them, “cottages.”)

Each motel room has 1 twin bed and 1 double bed and 1 bath. There is a $120 surcharge for the entire week as park staff will be supplying towels and linens. So if you opt for a motel room, we encourage sharing the cost.

At one end of the cottage unit there is a room for sharing and debriefing, two with a nice fireplace.

There is full service dining! There are 2 full-time chefs who provide well balanced, carefully planned meals. Please make sure you indicate dietary issues such as vegetarian, vegan, or gluten free on your registration form.

Bottom line: we have the whole place reserved for CSAR 2018. Besides the 1,424 acres, you’ll find hiking trails, athletic field, gymnasium, 6-acre lake, a 9-hole disc golf course, and two amphitheaters!
